VIRULENCE
BANDINFO:
Who would have thought, that of all bands it´s Boston´s
Virulence, who release one of the most surprising and original album
in the Grind / Death Metal genre this year? Founded in early 1998
Virulence matured into a very unique and individual band. Since
day one the founding members shared the urge to overcome the strict
boundaries of the genre. From the very first rehearsal on, the uninspired
uniformitiy of the genre has been a thorn in the side of the band´s
members. Thus drummer Dan Meath, guitarist Nick Peyer and bassplayer
/singer Chris Danecek started to transform their passion into original
compositions. The result of their efforts is a very unique style,
which does not seem to know any artistic boundaries.Virulence´s
songs are bursting with various influences. The spellbound listener
will find elements from Hardcore as well as Death Metal together
with impressions from various other forms of music. The fascinating
Jazz influences are an important and at the same time significantly
abstract characteristic. The band´s first release was „The
Dormant Strains", a Mini CD, which was entirely self-produced
and self-distributed. This Mini CD triggered more interest from
all over the world . 1999 brought the band´s fate to a new
level. Dave Sheaffer joined as a full time bassplayer. This new line-up
gave the quartett a completely new musical perspective. "Avantgard
Over-The-Top-Grindcore" with hyperspeed guitarlicks, which
above all, shine with non-conform melodies, complemented by brutal
rhythm staccati, which are also performed in unbelievable velocity.
Now the brand new opus, the full-length debut "A Conflict Scenario",
has been completed and it shows how the band juggles with all of
the aforementioned musical styles.
